Our Story


First and foremost it’s so good to be back!

The lockdown has been a pause for reflection and an opportunity to make some big changes to our menus, as well as making some beneficial improvements to the public areas and garden.

Renovating the terrace, designing a new cocktail menu and preparing the building for reopening by putting new codes of practice into place to ensure that our guests and team are kept safe.

We have always been 5* rated by Mid Sussex council for our hygiene procedures but we are very pleased to say that we are now ‘Gold standard Covid secure’.

We freshly prepare our dishes to order and we try to use locally sourced sustainable product where possible, after all Sussex has some fabulous farms and producers!

The addition of our new terrace and bar menu means that you can pop in for a light bite at any time and we will be hosting ‘happy hour’ for our new cocktail menu between 4pm and 6pm Friday and Saturday. For those that prefer a pint of draught beer, we do that too!

There is so much choice out there, cooking styles and fusion, ingredients, colour and taste. The world is our oyster!

Great meat and fish as well as some creative vegetarian dishes are on offer, some classic as well as innovative dishes created in our kitchen that will surprise and delight!

We have always prided ourselves on our relaxed but efficient no fuss service. You will see this when you come to eat with us, minimum fuss, background music, a buzzy atmosphere in a relaxed environment. Exactly what is required when you are out out!
